On 18 July 2026, the president of the Kagyu Monlam organising committee issued an announcement regarding Kagyu Monlam 2026:
The Kagyu Monlam, organised by South Asia Buddhist Association (SABA)
For the Kind Attention of All Monasteries, Dharma Centres, and Devotees
In accordance with the gracious advice and instructions of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, the 24th Kagyu Monlam will be held from 15th to 21st December 2026 in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India.
As in previous years, the Kagyu Monlam will bring together thousands of devotees, monks, nuns, and revered Venerables beneath the sacred Bodhi Tree—the very place where Lord Buddha Shakyamuni attained enlightenment. During this auspicious gathering, we will collectively recite the King of Aspiration Prayers, dedicating the accumulated merit to the flourishing of the Buddha Dharma in general and the Karma Kagyu Lineage in particular. We will also offer prayers for lasting world peace, the pacification of diseases, suffering, and conflicts, and for the well-being, happiness, and liberation of all sentient beings.
On behalf of the Kagyu Monlam Organizing Committee, (SABA) I extend my warm and heartfelt invitation to all monasteries, Dharma centres, and devotees to participate in this profound and meritorious gathering.
May our collective prayers generate immeasurable merit and blessings, bringing peace, harmony, and benefit to all beings throughout the world.
We look forward to your participation in Bodhgaya.
